The 7 Grandfather Teachings

The 7 Grandfather Teachings, also known as the Seven Sacred Teachings, are a set of principles that originated with the Anishinaabe people of North America and are also shared by other Indigenous nations. These teachings serve as a guide for living a good life in harmony with oneself, others, and the natural world.

2. Bravery

The second teaching is bravery. Bravery is not the absence of fear; rather, it is the courage to face fear head-on and rise above it. It is the ability to stand tall in the face of adversity, regardless of the magnitude of the challenge. Bravery demands self-belief and resilience, urging us to step out of our comfort zones and explore uncharted territories. It is a quality that empowers individuals to make difficult decisions, take risks, and embody unwavering determination.

We all grapple with fear, constantly facing doubts and uncertainties. The fear of not fitting in, the fear of failure, the fear of not measuring up, the fear of letting go, and the fear of embarking on new beginnings. As a mother raising two boys and a girl, I find myself often telling my daughter, "Be brave, you can do this." I am determined to instill in her the courage to explore uncharted territories and embrace life's challenges at every opportunity. I want to equip her with the resilience she needs to navigate a world that may bring disappointment. However, mere words are not enough; I must lead by example.

Leaving behind a stable and fulfilling career was undoubtedly the scariest decision I have ever made. It carried risks, stress, and moments of uncertainty. Yet, through this experience, I have discovered invaluable insights about myself. The skills I cultivated as an educator have seamlessly translated into the world of business. Each day, whether I'm adding more weight to a bar or venturing outside my comfort zone to create a video, I am driven by thoughts of my children. I am determined to be brave, not only for them but also for my own growth and fulfillment.

By demonstrating bravery in my own endeavors, I hope to inspire my children to cultivate their own inner strength and face fears head-on. I want them to witness firsthand the transformative power of taking risks, embracing vulnerability, and pushing beyond self-imposed limitations. It is through my actions that I aim to convey the importance of bravery, as words alone cannot paint a complete picture.

So, what is your fear or challenge? I encourage you to take the leap! Let's honor The 7 Grandfather Teachings that have guided Indigenous people for generations and continue to teach our children to be brave and resilient.
